Adobe Premiere Pro is getting Apple ProRes RAW support

Adobe today announced new updates to all the Creative Cloud video and audio applications. One of the updates will add support for Apple ProRes RAW to Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.

This update pertains specifically to Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Character Animator, Media Encoder and Premiere Rush. In addition to ProRes RAW support for all apps, After Effects is receiving new creative tools, Character Animator is getting workflow refinements, and all the apps will see performance improvements.

Adobe Premiere Pro

ProRes RAW

The big news of the day is Premiere Pro now supports ProRes RAW. This is a huge feature that will likely have many jumping in their seats with joy. Now, ProRes RAW will allow Premiere Pro to be a cross-platform solution for Apple ProRes workflows.

Streamlined graphics workflows

Additionally, the Premiere Pro update will include an improved Pen tool with better support for Bezier curves. This should make it easier for you to achieve better precision when creating lines and shapes. Also, filter effects show attributes that only have keyframes or adjusted parameters allowing you to focus on the currently active effects.

Auto Reframe

According to Adobe, Auto Reframe in Premiere Pro is now faster. Powered by Adobe’ AI Sensei and machine learning tech, Auto Reframe automatically reformats and repositions video in different aspect ratios. Content creators can now more efficiently tailor content for social media and content platforms.

Audio files in Creative Cloud Libraries

Premiere Pro users can now save, organize and share frequently used audio assets from the CC Libraries panel.

Adobe After Effects

ProRes RAW

Just like Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects now supports Apple ProRes RAW from camera media through to delivery.

Tapered Shape Strokes

Tapered shape strokes in After Effects gives motion graphics artists more options when animating and designing. Users can now make tapered, wavy, pointed, or rounded strokes on shape layers.

Concentric Shape Repeater

The concentric shape repeater offers users new parameters in the Offset Paths shape effect. With the tool, users can now create copies of a path that radiate outward or inward.

Mask and Shape Cursor Indicators

These indicators show you which tool you’re using and to help avoid unnecessary undos when drawing shapes and masks.
